DESCRIPTION:Traditional Curbside Collection on Regularly Scheduled Residential Service Day: May 16 – 20\, 2022 \nEDCO’s Coronado Community Cleanup Event gives residents an opportunity to place unwanted bulk items curbside that are too large or heavy to put inside collection carts\, such as broken appliances\, water heaters\, furniture\, old mattresses (please wrap mattresses prior to setting out – special mattress disposal bags can be purchased at hardware stores or on their websites)\, and other miscellaneous bulky household clutter.  \nAll yard waste will be recycled and must be bagged or bundled. Tree trimmings should be cut into 3’ lengths and tied securely into bundles not greater than 18” in diameter. Debris from contractors\, landscapers or commercial businesses will NOT be accepted. No Hazardous Waste Accepted. \nThis year’s cleanup will take place the week of May 16th – 20th on your regularly scheduled residential curbside collection day (please put items out on the curb with your regular collection carts by 6 a.m.). \nFREE MULCH! Once again EDCO will have mulch available for self-load/self-haul at the corner of A Avenue and 2nd Street\, by the Little League field\, for Coronado residents only. Come early and bring a shovel to get your compost while it lasts! If you plan to haul your compost in an open truck or trailer\, please remember to bring a tarp to cover your material.

The City of Coronado has been a “Tree City USA” since 1984. The program recognizes cities that work to maintain and grow their urban forests. The City has more than 8\,500 trees it manages all around Coronado. \n

DESCRIPTION:From the City Manager’s weekly update: \nA City and EDCO free document shredding and e-waste recycling event is set for Saturday\, March 19. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Coronado residents at the City Hall north parking lot\, 1825 Strand Way. EDCO limits items so check the City’s website for more details. Residents also may drop off\, unwanted electronics\, including TVs\, computer monitors\, printers\, fax machines\, VCRs\, DVD players and answering machines. No household hazardous waste material\, appliances or trash please. However\, the City will host its next two Household Hazardous Waste Collection events on March 12 and 26\, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Public Services facility\, 101 B Ave. For more information\, please call Public Services at (619) 522-7380.

DESCRIPTION:The Navy’s Annual Bay Bridge Run/Walk is hosted by the Navy Region Southwest Morale\, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Program.  The unique 4-mile run/walk has a one-of-a-kind spectacular panoramic view as participants make their way to Coronado’s beautiful Tidelands Park from downtown San Diego over the Coronado Bay Bridge.  During the finish line celebration\, runners receive a Finisher’s medal\, event T-shirt\, and enjoy sponsor booths. Plus\, all participants are eligible for drawing prizes and complimentary transportation back to downtown. \nRegister Today! \nMWR provides healthy and affordable fitness and recreation opportunities at each of the five Navy bases in San Diego County.  MWR operates multiple fitness centers\, swimming pools and beaches movie theaters\, bowling lanes\, golf courses\, discount ticket offices\, marina\, single sailor programs\, outdoor gear rental\, Navy Getaways\, youth and teen recreation centers\, child care centers\, food and beverage facilities and more. \nMWR is also the event planner for the military.  Beyond the Bridge Run\, MWR produces fitness and sporting competitions\, educational activities\, military child appreciation events\, on-going Community Recreation trips\, leisure skill classes and recreation programs and seasonal celebrations such as our Spring Fling\, Freedom Festival\, Beach Bash and the Family Holiday Party.
