The City of Coronado has been a “Tree City USA” since 1984. The program recognizes cities that work to maintain and grow their urban forests. DESCRIPTION:IMPACTING THE NEXT GENERATION THROUGH FILM\nSTUDENT CLASSIC FILM STUDY PROGRAM \n2022 Series Launch! – Preview Question + Answer Event \nCoronado High School and Middle School students will be invited to become charter members of the inaugural launch of the Coronado Island Film Festival’s Student Classic Film Program. \nClassic Film Program Director\, Jon Mosier\, will host a preview event for public\, parochial\, charter\, home school educators and youth leaders on January 6th.  Attendees will screen a 25-minute documentary\, The Art of Classic Film\, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A to discuss the origins and purpose of the Student Classic Film Program. \nWhile intended for those working directly with young people\, this preview event is open to everyone with an interest in the program. \nABOUT THE PROGRAM:\nThe Program will begin with a screening of Casablanca on February 6th 2022. From February through May\, students will screen eight film Classics made by the most widely acknowledged masters of the cinematic art during the Golden Age of Hollywood\, as they were meant to be seen\, on the big screen at Coronado’s Village Theater. DESCRIPTION:Coronado begins the City’s holiday events season on Friday\, Dec. 3\, with the annual lighting of the civic holiday tree and menorah at Coronado Rotary Plaza in conjunction with the annual Coronado Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade and Open House. The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission will host a public art piano holiday sing-along under the Christmas Tree at Rotary Park. The concert will begin at 5 p.m. Downtown shopping Open House begins at 5:30 p.m. The parade begins at 6 p.m. The Christmas tree/menorah lighting is at 7 p.m. and the Coronado Community Band Concert begins at 7:15 p.m. All events are free. The holiday lights and will remain on through December.
